SEISMO will realese his debut EP tomorrow (Wed. May 14th). read our Q&A thingy we did with him to get an idea what this guy is all about.
1) Go ahead, present yourself. What is Seismo all about?
I was born in the 80s in Graz. After studying special needs education and audio engineering, I now work at a primary school here. Music is (and has always been) a part and parcel ofmy life, especially the piano. In my own little home-studio, I constantly work on sounds andtracks and since I got a 1210, the music playing is mainly techno, house and tech-house. My own productions don’t belong to a specific genre, as it contains classic piano tracks, jazz elements as well as techno songs. Sometimes you will also find me DJing in the nightlife of Graz.
2) Lay down some early musical influences.
During my classical education in piano, I got in touch mainly with jazz and blues, which today can be found in some of my tracks. My entire youth was deeply influenced by hip hop and having been a skateboarder, I intensively experienced the whole lifestyle.
3) Where do you find your inspiration today?
A couple of days off, a cool beer in my hand and my ass on the chair of my studio – that’s all it takes for me to find inspiration.
4) How did you hook up with Tiefparterre Records?
Back in the days, through the mutual and unconditional love for hip hop, I met the dudes from TP. It was love at first sight.
6) What are your studio tools?
Daw: Cubase 7.5, Mixer/Interface: Mackie Onyx 1620i , Speakers: Adam A7 X and KRK Rockit 5, Mics: Neumann TLM 102 and Shure Sm 58, Piano: Kawai MP-6 Stage Piano, Synthi: Novation UltraNova, Effects: Universal Audio UAD-2 Quad
8) If you could work with one person, producer, vocalist, anything: Who would it be?
9) Your precious 12″.
Gabriel Ananda - Miracel Whop
10) Name a shame track.
Can’t think of one and wouldn’t name one either if I could.
10) What are you listening to right now? Just one artist or a couple tracks that you've had on serious rotation?
"Ben Cocks - Bring us the sun" right now is one of the most beautiful tracks for me.
Soap&Skin – Vater – Can’t listen to it too, too often , because I like being happy, which is pretty impossible with this song. But it is truly a masterpiece of music.
"Worakls - Bleu (Original Mix)" is an outstanding track in which you can nicely plunge into.
11) Your chance to promote what you got coming up next / in the future.
I am currently working on my new EP, which is again a collaboration with Birgit Lubi and will hopefully be done by sometime next year.
12) Shout outs?
Shout outs are going to Birgit Lubi, the Madman`s Countys, Lukas Wassermann, Dizzy Womack, Da Heimleita, all the Tiefparterrillos, Martin Denda, Christoph, Emma, Anna and Birgit, my family and all my friends out there.
